My Story
I grew up in public housing and graduated from high school while living in Japan. At 20, I became a single mother making minimum wage at Kroger, balancing my responsibilities while taking college classes in the evenings. At 25, I graduated from college with honors, and at 29, I began my law school journey. By 33, I had earned my law degree and became a practicing attorney. Over the course of my career, I’ve gained valuable experience working at private, government, and non-profit organizations. My journey is a testament to resilience, determination, and the belief that with hard work, anything is possible.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working under exceptional leaders, as well as the challenge of working for those who lacked critical leadership skills, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence. What many fail to understand is that when you lose top talent, you’re not just losing an employee—you’re losing institutional knowledge, which takes significant time and resources to replace.
Today, talent retention goes far beyond competitive pay. In a post-COVID world, we’re navigating an experience-driven workforce where employees prioritize fulfillment, growth, and overall well-being. The global wake-up call reminded us all that life is too short to endure dissatisfaction—especially in the workplace.
Effective leadership requires emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and a flexible approach to understanding and supporting team members as individuals. Fulfillment and professional development aren’t just "nice-to-haves"; they’re essential for creating a thriving, productive work environment.
I’ve seen firsthand how toxic workplaces can impact both mental and physical health. That’s why I’m passionate about equipping employers with the tools, strategies, and support they need to cultivate and sustain positive work environments—not just for their teams but for themselves as well. Leadership that prioritizes people isn’t just good for morale; it’s good for business.
